Sally the novelist.
Dreaming In Ink is a writers’ group that believes the pen is mightier than the sword. We are committed to the art and power of words. Nothing was beyond our imagination when we included fiction and non-fiction in this unique collection of written work. There is something among these pages for all readers. Come inside and experience the many colors of life.
I used the Covid years to sequester myself to write novels in preparation for pitching them to potential agents.
I am so ready to connect with the right agent to walk the next path with me.
Just Out: Dreaming in Ink: Another Unique Anthology
While I wait for the agent and publisher to introduce my novels, I conspired with an eclectic East Aurora (Buffalo area) writing group, led by author and editor Terri Skurzewski, to self-publish an anthology called Dreaming in Ink: Another Unique Anthology.* It’s on Amazon here, and in some area bookstores.
Eight eclectic writers offered our collective talents in several forms, including short stories and essays, with something for everyone.
Teaser: I placed six stories in the collection, and only five of them are true! You will have to guess, and then read more about it in the novels to come. If you catch up with me in person at coming events, I hope to have the books with me ($20 cash or check) as well as my garden books.
*Note: It’s “another” anthology because the group previously published a first anthology—also called Dreaming in Ink. If you want the new one, look for “Another…” in the title, and publication date of 2024.
Two More Books in Waiting
The book I am currently pitching is about a network of women who help women escape and survive some extreme circumstances. The characters learn from each other, as they individually overcome obstacles, both internal and external. I have fallen in love with my two wildly different protagonists—who already have full lives of their own in my living room. And I know readers will enjoy the sisterhood that surrounds them (as well as a few good men and rescue dogs). When this book gets into the world you will be the first to know the title and read the blurb.
My other novel is inspired by my experience in NYC from 1971 to 1985, during which I bravely (sometimes gloriously and sometimes foolishly) climbed career ladders in government and later corporate insurance, while seeking love (yes also in some of the wrong places). It is not an autobiography, but the story is very real as my Nora tells what it was like then to try to crack the glass ceiling in that exciting but very sexist culture. Her stories represent many women’s experiences then—and unfortunately, often, now. And yet, we persist, we emerge.
I look forward to sharing more, and to one day offering readings and talks about women’s lives, challenges, the way we were—and the way we are.
